Pełech & Horna Duo

Krzysztof Pelech and Robert Horna are often recognised as Poland’s best guitar players.

The performers will present their latest album Sambalanço. It pulsates with Latin American rhythms, charms with its original arrangements, and amazes listeners with the beauty of its melodies. You’ll find the samba, bossa nova and tango, spiced with a touch of light jazz and winding improvisations.

This playful, mood-enhancing and kaleidoscopic concert is like a fresh summer dessert: it’s sure to delight all, from those tired after a hard day’s work, to those enjoying their summer holidays.

Program features Pat Metheny, Ralph Towner, Astor Piazzolla, Celso Machado, Ulisses Rocha, Stanley Myers, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and Queen….

Krzysztof Pełech – a member of the worldwide elite circle of classical guitarists. He is one of the most active musicians of his generation (born 1970), Krzysztof Pełech performs extensively both as chamber musician and soloist with chamber and symphony orchestras. He has played in, among others, Germany (Berlin Philharmonic), US, Brazil, Mexico, Republic of South Africa, Egypt, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Mexico, Argentina and Chile, enjoying co-operations with outstanding composers and guitarists (including Jorge Morel, Jorge Cardoso, Joscho Stephan, Carlos Pinana and Tommy Emmanuel).

He has won the rank of the best Polish classical guitarist three times in a ‘Guitar Top’ survey run by Gitara i Bas monthly.

Krzysztof Pełech is the co-founder of Wrocław Guitar Society and an artistic director of Guitar Masters Festival / Gitara+. He is also one of the creators of International Guitar Summer Course in Krzyżowa (Kreisau). Since October 2005 he has run a guitar class at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music, where he received Ph.D. in art.

Robert Horna is an outstanding soloist and chamber musician. His musical temperament dominates even symphonic orchestras, which he has many times performed with. Orchestras are his passion anyway, which is why for the past few years he has been conducting a guitar orchestra in Krzyżowa. He likes performing in a duet, for example, with Krzysztof Pełech, Wiesław Prządka, Piotr Rangno, Izabela Kopeć, but it does not mean he plays second fiddle. His telltale sign is the classical guitar, which he studied at the Music Academy in Wrocław and at the Music Conservatoire in Enschede in Holland. Nevertheless, classical music is not his only form of artistic expression, since he has also studied jazz in Artur Lesicki’s class and successfully performs the combination of pop music, ethnic and jazz, playing in the band Fuera Quartett. His repertoire constitutes an interesting combination of early music, classical music, jazz and improvisation. His is particularly regarded for his transcriptions and interpretations of the works of Astor Piazzolla.
